The Israeli army offers some unconventional, creative positions for women, such as in a musical band, a magician, and in a drama studio. These units are tasked with boosting the TZAHAL soldiers’ morale, the popularization of culture, and developing creativity. Soldiers in this post drive cargo vehicles and other kinds of army vehicles (Hummer, Sufa, Abir, Ford, ambulance, etc.). Additionally, the drivers’ responsibilities include cargo-handling operations, vehicle maintenance, and in case of need, soldiers’ transportation, delivery to assignments, and delivery of military equipment, food supplies and ammunition. Service in “Tizmoret TZAHAL” is a great opportunity for women who have had musical education and are talented in this sphere. Soldiers in this position perform songs and play different kinds of musical instruments.

In the position of a “technician” women maintain and repair army equipment and assets, ranging from the replacement of big parts of aircrafts to the adjustment and repair of complex systems in laboratories. While serving, technicians work with various models of aircraft, helicopter, and external and internal aircraft systems.

It is a rare but an interesting job for women in TZAHAL, being a guide at the Air Force museum Hatzerim (near Beer Sheba). Soldiers’ responsibilities include studying the museum exhibit items, conducting excursions for soldiers and civilians, briefing sessions for museum visitors.

Fueling, servicing and the maintaining of fueling stations at Israeli Air Force bases. Soldiers in this position fuel all kinds of aerial vehicles (aircrafts and helicopters), replace filters, and check fuel supply pressure.

It is a position for women in TZAHAL. Operators monitor Israeli maritime borders, preventing illegal boundary crossings by foreign ships and enemy forces. Women-operators work with surveillance and movement control systems including night-observation systems, security cameras, computers and various communication equipment.
(more…)Technical skills are in great demand in the Israeli Navy and it is a good opportunity for women to gain specialist skills in TZAHAL. Technicians in Haley Yam adjust, repair and inspect naval forces reporting systems, mechanical and electronic equipment as well as underwater diving and combat systems. They are assigned to different Navy units with the possibility to be promoted to command and training positions.
