The «Yahalom» unit (Diamond in Hebrew) or the abbreviation “YAHALM” (Yahida Handasait Lemesimot Miuhadot) is a special engineering unit. Yahalom is an elite unit relating to Hadansa Kravit (Engineering Brigade), which performs special missions and conducts joint operations with other special units of TZAHAL. The position of a cook exists at many TZAHAL bases, as it is necessary to provide 3 daily meals to all soldiers and officers. “Tabah” is usually attached to a chef (a professional under contract: “ish-keva”), who makes up a menu and is in charge of the overall cooking process. Cooks are responsible for the following: cutting salad, boiling, frying, stewing and even baking. Besides, cooks take care of the kitchen equipment maintenance, food supplies, and maintain good order in the kitchen.

The position of system administrator is a good possibility to gain experience in the IT sphere. “Mafil maarahot mahshev” are responsible for server support in Data-centers, fault correction and increasing systems’ performance.

There is an army store for soldiers at almost every base of the Israeli Army, which is more commonly known as “Shekem”. The chain changes its name from time to time and today the stores are called “Kaveret”. The “Kaveret” manager at a base is a position fulfilled by a TZAHAL soldier. Holding this post, men serve the customers of the store, keep accounts and inventory balances, work with suppliers, and keep track of the sales balance sheet.

For recruits who used to do swimming there is a position of a lifeguard at pools at Air Force bases (Kheil HaAvir). «Matzil baBriha” is quite a rare position, but a very good possibility for sportsmen to “pursue their occupation” during their service in TZAHAL. “Matzilim” fulfill two main functions, those of lifeguard and swimming pool administrator. Soldiers in this position receive a rescuer card accepted by the Ministry of Labor which is valid both in the army and in civilian life.
