Air Force canine handler (Kalbanim Heil Havir)

Canine handlers in the Air Force or «tipul ve iluf klavim» take care of and train the dogs at Israeli Air Force Bases. The position of “Kalbanim Heil havir” perfectly suits men who like dogs and are eager to take care of animals throughout their military service.

Being canine handlers’ soldiers conduct patrols of the base perimeter with a dog, ensure special military events security, train dogs to execute various commands and look after the animals.

There are 3 canine handler courses in “Heil Havir”:
1. Training and care («Tipul we iluf klavim») — a 6-week course
2. Reconnaissance («Gishush») — the course lasts for 12 to 24 weeks
3. Combat dogs («Kelef tkifa») — a 7-week course.

→After having accomplished one of the courses (sometimes 2 courses) the soldiers get tasks according to the dogs’ specialization.

→Placement at Israeli Air Force Bases.

When the service is over it is possible to take a personal dog home.

Requirements:
Medical profile 64 and higher
Select «Tipul ve iluf klavim» first on pre-conscription questionnaire (Manila) or inform the sorting officer (Katzin Miyun)
