«Chovel» is a TZAHAL elite officer who has followed special training to command ships and marines of the Israeli Navy. Sea captains have to deal not only with marines but also with technologically-complicated systems of the ship. «Hovlim» receive long training which culminates in a first academic degree (Bachelor).

It is a rare but an interesting job for women in TZAHAL, being a guide at the Air Force museum Hatzerim (near Beer Sheba). Soldiers’ responsibilities include studying the museum exhibit items, conducting excursions for soldiers and civilians, briefing sessions for museum visitors.

In the position of a “technician” women maintain and repair army equipment and assets, ranging from the replacement of big parts of aircrafts to the adjustment and repair of complex systems in laboratories. While serving, technicians work with various models of aircraft, helicopter, and external and internal aircraft systems.

The Israeli army offers some unconventional, creative positions for women, such as in a musical band, a magician, and in a drama studio. These units are tasked with boosting the TZAHAL soldiers’ morale, the popularization of culture, and developing creativity. Women in TZAHAL can serve as passenger car drivers. This position besides driving includes car maintenance, as and when required. Some soldiers who are drivers get an assignment to the position of officer’s personal driver (usually high-ranking officers). The border police soldiers’ duty includes both purely police functions (helping the police fight against crime and catch Israeli territory trespassers), and army activities: arresting those suspected in terrorist actions. In addition, the MAGAV’s responsibility includes border security and controlling border checkpoints.
